Mickey Finds a Mouse
Last Wednesday, Thomas's colleague went home to the news that her pet cat Mickey had caught a mouse. A hamster, actually. Miraculously, Mickey seemed to like the little one and had carried him home in one safe piece. Wondering if the hamster had lost his way, the family went out to check if any neighbours were looking for their lost pet. They found no anxious owners, but another hamster, looking equally lost.
And thus the two were whisked quickly into a makeshift shoebox home, and they camped over at the colleague's place for two days before they were put up for adoption. While Mickey's a gentle cat, he also stays with three other cats who may have a hungry interest in the two tiny morsels.
So meet Chip and Dale, who join our household this week. :)

Similarly, a few years ago my colleagues also found an abandoned female puppy near our office in Chinatown, and one colleague adopted her. She's been living happily since!
